Over 150
Cubs, Leaders and
Parents left
Orpington by train in warm weather and clear sky’s for a district
outing to The
London Eye and HMS
Belfast. Conditions were ideal for The London Eye
allowing clear views as far as the horizon.
Before leaving the area a
conjuring and
comedy act by a street entertainer arranged by Mark
Hudson (2nd
Orpington
Akela) had everyone cheering, clapping and laughing. We then
boarded ferries for a short trip
down the River Thames
to HMS Belfast. After looking round the famous
warship
groups had time to visit the surrounding
area or play in a park.
Those
who had
remained onboard saw Tower Bridge opened to allow a boat through. The
day finished
with a short walk
to London
Bridge station and the train home with many of the cubs still lively
enough to
entertain passengers by
impromptu
singing of camp fire songs.
